Asbestos Surveyor Reading

Job description

Asbestos Surveyor – Reading

Essential work. Trusted expertise. Done properly — every time.

Let’s be upfront — asbestos surveying isn’t just about identifying materials and completing reports.

It’s about providing the knowledge and confidence clients need to manage risk properly, protect people and keep buildings safe.

At Lucion, we don’t approach asbestos surveying as a tick-box exercise. We deliver accurate, defensible surveys that help clients make informed decisions — protecting people, buildings and projects across the UK.

We’re a purpose-driven, beyond-net-zero business working across multiple sectors worldwide, and we take pride in combining technical excellence with a calm, professional approach.

We’re currently looking for an Asbestos Surveyor to join our Hazardous Materials team in Reading. This is a field-based role, working across a variety of commercial, industrial and public sector environments where your expertise will make a genuine difference.

If you value quality, accuracy and doing things the right way, you’ll feel at home here.

What You'll Be Doing

This is a varied, hands-on role where your surveying expertise directly supports safer buildings and better decision-making.

You will:

• Carry out asbestos surveys including management, refurbishment and demolition surveys.
• Complete asbestos sampling and assessments, accurately identifying potential asbestos-containing materials.
• Collect detailed site information using our digital systems and produce clear, comprehensive survey reports.
• Provide professional advice and guidance to clients, contractors and project teams.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with HSG264, current legislation and Lucion’s high standards.
• Build strong relationships with clients by delivering reliable, professional surveying services.

About You

You understand the responsibility that comes with asbestos surveying and take pride in getting the details right.

You’ll ideally have:

• BOHS P402 qualification (or equivalent RSPH qualification/Certificate of Competence).
• Experience completing asbestos management, refurbishment and demolition surveys.
• A good working knowledge of HSG264 and current asbestos legislation.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate technical reports.
• A full UK manual driving licence and the flexibility to travel across Reading and surrounding areas when required.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a professional technical team.

What You'll Get in Return

We look after our people so they can focus on delivering great work.

You’ll benefit from:

• £1,000 joining bonus for experienced Asbestos Surveyors who apply directly.
• Paid travel time as part of your 40-hour working week, typically worth £3,000–£4,000 annually, plus working away allowances where applicable.
• Healthcare Cash Plan, Techscheme vouchers and access to a reward platform offering wellbeing support, cycle-to-work benefits and discounts at over 800 retailers.
• Enhanced family leave, the option to buy additional holiday, ongoing training and development, flexible working and supportive managers who understand site-based roles.

Why Lucion?

Because accuracy matters here.

Because your expertise is respected, not rushed.

And because you want to work for a business that takes safety, quality and people seriously.

If you’re an asbestos professional who wants to deliver work you can stand behind, we’d love to hear from you.

As part of our commitment to safety, trust and doing things properly, the successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS check before joining the business.

Lucion. Purpose-led. People-focused. Getting it right — on every site, every time.
