Behaviour & SEN Teaching Assistant – Wakefield | Primary Schools

The Supply Register is working in partnership with Inspire Partnership Multi-Academy Trust (IPMAT) to recruit caring, enthusiastic and resilient Behaviour and SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across its family of primary schools in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

We have a variety of opportunities available, including day-to-day supply, short-term, long-term and temp-to-perm positions. These term-time roles offer a range of working hours and are ideal for individuals who have experience supporting children with special educational needs, behavioural challenges or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The Role

As a Behaviour and SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours and build confidence and independence.

• Support pupils with SEN, SEMH needs and behavioural challenges in the classroom and in small groups.

• Assist teachers with classroom activities and individual learning support.

• Encourage positive behaviour, social development and engagement in learning.

• Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and tailored support strategies.

• Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils and school staff.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for patient, reliable and adaptable individuals who are passionate about supporting children's education and wellbeing.

• Experience working with children or young people; school experience is preferred.

• An understanding of SEN, SEMH and behaviour support, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.

• A calm, patient and consistent approach when supporting pupils.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

• A professional attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
