Job description
About the role Our client is a building services consultancy designing mechanical and electrical systems for healthcare, education, commercial and residential projects. We need a Mechanical Design Engineer to design efficient, low-carbon building systems from concept to completion.
What you will do
- Design HVAC, heating, ventilation, cooling and public health systems
- Carry out heat loss, heat gain and pipe and duct sizing calculations
- Produce specifications, schedules and design drawings
- Make sure designs meet UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance and sustainability targets
- Attend design meetings and site surveys
- Coordinate with electrical, structural and architectural teams
What you need
- Degree or HND in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years in mechanical building services design, ideally in a consultancy
- Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guides
- Experience with design software such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD, IES VE or Hevacomp
- Confident communicating with clients and design teams
Nice to have
- Low-carbon design experience (heat pumps, Part L, BREEAM)
- Healthcare or education sector experience
- IEng or CEng with CIBSE, or working towards it
