Detention Engagement Officer - Strathaven, Scotland

Contract role (length TBC, likely 6 months+) | IR35: Inside

We're hiring for a Detention Engagement Officer position based in Strathaven, Scotland. This is a fully office-based opportunity with our client, offering the chance to play a vital role in resident engagement, communication and case progression within a secure operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Detention Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for conducting face-to-face resident engagements, including inductions and assessments, while ensuring clear communication regarding processes, expectations, and available options. The Detention Engagement Officer will manage a portfolio of residents, provide case updates, accurately record interactions on internal systems, and work closely with suppliers and stakeholders. You will also identify and manage vulnerability indicators in line with policy, support administrative activities such as inbox management and telephone enquiries, contribute to management reporting, and escalate issues appropriately when required.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

• Successful applicants must meet eligibility requirements to obtain CTC level of Clearance (Counter Terrorism Clearance)
• Disclosure Scotland Enhanced non barred or DBS Enhanced non barred
• Ability to manage challenging situations professionally
• Leadership potential and confidence when engaging with a range of stakeholders
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Personal Safety Training Level 2, SPEAR training
• Full availability to work rotating shifts
• Ability to travel independently to the site location (no public transport available)

Desirable

• Previous experience within resident engagement, customer-facing, operational, public sector or case management environments
• Experience maintaining accurate records and case notes

Working Pattern

This Detention Engagement Officer role is 100% office based and full-time. The position requires flexibility to work early and late shifts across weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Weekend working is expected on a 1-in-3 rota basis.
