Electrical Estimator

Job description

Shero Talent Consultancy is recruiting an Electrical Estimator for an established mechanical and electrical building services contractor delivering complex projects across the residential, commercial, education, healthcare, hospitality and industrial sectors.

The business provides integrated design, installation and commissioning services, working closely with main contractors, developers and consultants. This is an opportunity to join an experienced preconstruction team and contribute to technically challenging projects from initial enquiry through to contract award.

The role

You will prepare accurate, commercially competitive electrical tenders and cost plans, managing the estimating process to meet submission deadlines. Working alongside mechanical estimators, designers and commercial teams, you will ensure bids reflect the full project scope, technical requirements and delivery risks.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender drawings, specifications, schedules and employer’s requirements to establish the electrical scope of works.
• Produce detailed electrical estimates, cost plans and tender submissions, including labour, materials, plant, subcontract packages and preliminaries.
• Carry out take-offs for electrical building services installations, including power distribution, lighting, containment, life safety and associated specialist systems.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations, checking compliance, exclusions and value.
• Identify design gaps, scope discrepancies and commercial risks, raising tender queries and recording assumptions and qualifications.
• Work with the mechanical estimating team to ensure interfaces and shared requirements are fully considered.
• Assess project requirements relating to BIM, sustainability, energy performance, fire strategy and specialist installations.
• Develop value engineering proposals and suitable alternatives
