Our client, ISS, is seeking an Engineering Technician Plumbing & Water Compliance professional with a strong plumbing or mechanical background to support the maintenance, safety and compliance of commercial water systems within a large, complex engineering environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team and develop a long-term engineering career within a critical facilities setting.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work alongside mechanical, electrical, HVAC and fabric engineers, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance while supporting water hygiene compliance activities.

The role would suit an experienced plumber looking to broaden their exposure within a highly regulated engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on commercial plumbing systems, domestic hot and cold-water services, sanitaryware, pipework, valves and drainage.
  • Carry out fault finding, repairs and maintenance relating to leaks, blockages, pressure issues, faulty taps, toilets and associated plumbing systems.
  • Support water hygiene compliance activities including temperature monitoring, outlet flushing, TMV inspections and testing.
  • Ensure domestic water systems remain safe, compliant and operational in line with ACOP L8, HSG274 and statutory requirements.
  • Identify, report and escalate water hygiene risks, including temperature deviations, stagnant water concerns, suspected dead legs and failed TMV tests.
  • Accurately record maintenance activities, inspections, compliance checks and remedial works within CAFM and compliance management systems.
  • Work safely within permit-to-work procedures and site health and safety requirements.
  • Support specialist contractors and collaborate with wider engineering teams to maintain system reliability, compliance and service standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience within plumbing and heating or a mechanical maintenance environment.
  • Level 2 Plumbing qualification preferred.
  • Candidates without formal qualifications will be considered if they can demonstrate relevant plumbing experience and time served within the trade.
  • Experience working with general plumbing systems, mechanical systems, domestic hot and cold-water services, and water hygiene compliance activities.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs effectively.
  • Good understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements.
  • Experience within a commercial environment is beneficial but not essential.
