Exam Invigilator | Secondary School | Bromley | Flexible Working 

Location: Bromley | South East London
Pay: £15.50 to £16.50 per hour, depending on experience
Contract: Temporary, Flexible | Exam Periods
Start Date: November 2026 and ongoing exam periods

About the Role

CANDL Recruitment is working with a large, inclusive secondary school and sixth form in South East London to recruit reliable and professional Exam Invigilators to support upcoming internal and external examination periods.

The school is part of an established multi-academy trust and has a strong focus on high expectations, inclusion and helping students achieve their potential.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible work within education. Previous invigilation experience is useful, but not essential for candidates who are organised, dependable and confident following clear procedures.

You will play an important part in making sure examinations are conducted calmly, fairly and in line with the required regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms, distribute materials and support the smooth running of each session.
• Supervise students throughout examinations and maintain a calm, professional environment.
• Follow examination procedures carefully and report any concerns or irregularities.
• Collect exam papers securely and support students with approved access arrangements where required.
• Work closely with the Exams Manager and wider school team.

Requirements

Essential:

• Reliable, punctual and professional.
• Good attention to detail.
• Confident following instructions and procedures.
• Calm and comfortable working with young people.
• Flexible availability during examination periods.

Desirable:

• Previous Exam Invigilator experience.
• Experience in a school, college or education setting.
• Knowledge of JCQ examination procedures.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.

Training and guidance will be provided around the school’s examination procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone dependable, organised and comfortable working in a formal examination environment.

You do not necessarily need previous school experience. The most important qualities are reliability, professionalism and the ability to remain focused throughout an exam session.
