Royal Mail – Gatehouse Officer
Stoke-on-Trent | Temporary Christmas Peak Work

Do you have experience working in a gatehouse, transport or logistics environment?

Pertemps is recruiting Gatehouse Officers to support Royal Mail's busy parcel operation in Stoke-on-Trent.

You'll be responsible for managing the movement of vehicles in and out of the site, ensuring all arrivals and departures are recorded and the operation runs safely and smoothly.

What does the job involve?

• Managing incoming and outgoing Class 1 HGV vehicles.
  
  
• Checking vehicle details and recording arrivals and departures.
  
  
• Directing drivers to the correct areas of the site.
  
  
• Communicating with drivers, transport teams and site management.
  
  
• Monitoring vehicle movements to help prevent delays and congestion.
  
  
• Maintaining accurate records and reporting any issues.
  
  
• Following site security and safety procedures.
  
  

What are we looking for?

• Previous gatehouse, transport or logistics experience is preferred.
  
  
• Confident communicating with HGV drivers and site teams.
  
  
• Good IT and administration skills.
  
  
• Organised with strong attention to detail.
  
  
• Able to work independently and make decisions.
  
  
• Reliable, flexible and comfortable working in a busy environment.
  
  

Working Hours & Pay

This is a 24-hour operation, 7 days a week, so flexibility is essential. Shifts include mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Shift Hours and Hourly Rate
Morning 06:00–14:15 £15.60
Afternoon14:00–22:15 £15.60
Night 22:00–06:15 £16.86

Important – you will pick one shift and work that until your assignment ends. 
This role is to support Royal Mail's Christmas peak operation only. The assignment is expected to end when the peak operation concludes. There is no guarantee of work beyond this period.
