HGV Driver

Permanent, Full-time | Kent

Estimated £43,472 per year including the regular bonus

Approximately 50 hours per week | Five days per week | 3:00am starts

A food distribution business is looking for a reliable HGV Driver to deliver goods safely and on time. You will complete vehicle checks, secure loads, follow planned routes and keep accurate delivery and vehicle records.

What you will do:

• Drive the appropriate commercial vehicle for the route; work may involve rigid or articulated vehicles.
• Load or unload goods and make sure each load is safely secured.
• Complete daily vehicle checks, delivery paperwork and tachograph records.
• Report vehicle defects promptly and follow hygiene and biosecurity procedures.
• Work with planners, follow delivery schedules and adapt routes when needed.
• Provide evening or weekend cover when required; some nights away may be needed.

What you will bring:

• A valid HGV licence appropriate to the vehicle and route.
• A safe, dependable approach to driving and vehicle checks.
• Good communication and record-keeping, with a flexible and practical attitude.

Hours and pay:

• Five days per week, working either Friday to Tuesday or Thursday to Monday.
• 3:00am start; finish time depends on the route. The expected week is approximately 50 hours.
• Basic rate: £16.22 per hour, plus a £5 daily bonus (£25 per week).
• Estimated annual pay: about £43,472, including the regular bonus and based on 50 hours per week.
• Overtime: £20.06 per hour; weekend overtime: £25.71 per hour.
• £25 per night out when applicable.
