Streamline Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Import Operator on behalf of our client, based in West Thurrock.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Import Operator with a solid background in sea freight imports to join an established operation and take ownership of shipments from origin through to final delivery.

You will be responsible for managing both FCL and LCL consignments, working closely with overseas partners, customers, transport providers and customs teams to ensure shipments progress efficiently and all documentation is handled accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage sea freight import consignments from the initial booking stage through to final delivery.
• Maintain regular contact with international agents to confirm shipment details, obtain documentation and resolve operational queries.
• Keep customers informed of shipment progress, including vessel movements, revised arrival dates and any potential delays.
• Source competitive haulage rates and organise onward deliveries following cargo arrival and devanning.
• Prepare and review customs clearance instructions, ensuring paperwork is complete and commodity codes and clearance requirements are checked.
• Monitor shipment milestones and ensure all relevant records and documentation are maintained accurately and within deadlines.
• Assist with preparing freight quotations when required, with training available to develop your pricing knowledge further.
• Identify and address shipment or documentation issues promptly, liaising with the relevant parties to minimise disruption.

Skills and Experience Required

• At least 2 years' experience in sea freight imports within a freight forwarding or logistics environment.
• Practical experience handling both FCL and LCL shipments.
• A good working knowledge of customs clearance procedures and import documentation.
• Understanding of Incoterms and how they apply to international shipments.

What's on Offer?

Competitive salary of £30,000–£33,000, depending on experience.

Monday – Friday 08:30-17:30
