KS1 SEN Teacher (EYFS experience) – Burnley

Location: Burnley, Lancashire (BB10)

Pay: £180 – £250 per day

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, term time only

Contract: Temp to perm

Start date: ASAP

Luma Education Recruitment is looking for an SEN Teacher to take a Key Stage 1 class at an independent special school in Burnley, Lancashire, from Monday 2 November. The pupils are non-verbal, need help with personal care and learn best through play, so a background in Early Years would be a real advantage. This is a temp to perm position paying £180 – £250 per day, full-time in term time.

The Setting

A newly established independent special school in Burnley, opened in September 2026, with small classes for pupils aged 5 to 18 who have complex needs.

The Opportunity

• Teaching a small KS1 group through play, sensory exploration and repeated routines
• Supporting communication with non-verbal pupils using signing, symbols and objects
• Delivering personal care respectfully and following each child's care plan
• Working alongside classroom support staff and setting out their daily focus
• Tracking progress against individual targets and sharing updates with parents
• Helping with supervision at lunchtime, playtime and on trips

About You

• QTS (essential)
• Early Years or Key Stage 1 teaching experience
• Experience with pupils who are non-verbal or working at very early levels
• Comfortable providing personal care
