Job description

Management Accountant

SF Partners are recruiting a Management Accountant for a broad role combining management accounting, financial planning and commercial business partnering.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you’ll help the business understand its performance, plan ahead and make informed decisions. Alongside producing accurate monthly accounts, you’ll work with operational teams to challenge forecasts, explain the numbers and identify opportunities to improve profitability.

This would suit a technically strong accountant who enjoys analysing data, building relationships and taking an active role in business performance.

The role

  • Work closely with budget holders to develop budgets and forecasts, challenge assumptions and highlight risks and opportunities.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, including P&L reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and clear variance commentary.
  • Analyse revenue, costs and operational KPIs to explain performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Build financial models and turn complex data into practical recommendations for senior management.
  • Partner with colleagues outside finance, helping them understand their results and take ownership of financial performance.
  • Improve reporting, processes and systems to make financial information more accurate, consistent and useful.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, support audit requirements and ensure reporting complies with relevant accounting standards.
  • Support the FP&A Manager in developing a more proactive, forward-looking finance function.

About you

You’ll be ACCA or CIMA qualified, or actively studying towards qualification, with experience in management accounting and financial planning.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Experience preparing budgets and forecasts and gathering information from non-finance stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyse large datasets from multiple systems and build financial models.
  • Confidence explaining findings to senior stakeholders and constructively challenging information.
  • A practical approach to improving processes and solving problems.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
