Mechanical Project Manager – Ventilation & Ductwork

📍 Maidstone, Kent / London projects

💷 £50,000–£75,000, depending on experience

🚘 Company car or car allowance

🏢 One to two days per week in the Maidstone office / others site.

I’m recruiting an experienced Mechanical Project Manager for my client, a well-established mechanical contractor delivering air-conditioning, ventilation and ductwork projects across London and the South East.

This is a varied position offering full responsibility for projects valued from approximately £10,000 to £6 million, from initial handover and pre-construction through to installation, completion and final client handover.

The successful candidate will ideally live in Kent or on the south side of the Thames, allowing straightforward access to the Maidstone office and projects across London.

The role

◆ Managing mechanical projects from beginning to completion

◆ Taking responsibility for air-conditioning, ventilation and ductwork packages

◆ Managing site teams, labour and subcontractors

◆ Producing and monitoring project programmes

◆ Coordinating procurement and ordering materials

◆ Reviewing drawings and managing design alterations

◆ Attending client, progress and site meetings

◆ Monitoring costs, project performance and delivery dates

◆ Resolving technical, programme and site issues

◆ Maintaining quality and health-and-safety standards

◆ Managing commissioning, completion and client handover

◆ Working alongside the company’s plumbing and heating specialists

Project portfolio

Projects range from smaller works through to major mechanical packages valued at approximately £6 million, including:

◆ Commercial refurbishments

◆ Ground-up developments and new builds

◆ High-end residential projects

◆ Office and property refurbishments

◆ London projects in areas including Marble Arch, Chiswick and the City

What my client is looking for

✔ Mechanical Project Management experience

✔ Strong knowledge of ventilation and ductwork delivery

✔ Able to manage several site teams and subcontractors

✔ Comfortable reviewing drawings and coordinating design changes

✔ Strong programme, procurement and project-delivery skills

✔ Commercially aware and capable of controlling costs

✔ Able to take ownership and complete work without being heavily managed

✔ Confident dealing directly with clients and project stakeholders

✔ A trade background is beneficial but not essential

✔ Air-conditioning experience is advantageous, although strong ventilation and ductwork knowledge is more important

✔ Full UK driving licence
