Sunbury-on-Thames (Hybrid - 3 days on-site p/w, Tuesday and Wednesday fixed)
£50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits

Are you a network engineer who wants genuine ownership rather than a ticket queue? This Network Engineer role comes with a live project attached: a migration of the edge switching estate from Cisco to Arista across multiple buildings, with a firewall replacement following close behind.

A globally recognised technology manufacturer in Sunbury-on-Thames is looking for a Network Engineer to join its MIS function. You'll own the availability, performance and security of the network across the UK and Europe, working to a standard set by the global head office within an established ISO 27001 framework.

This is an in-house enterprise network, not a carrier or managed service environment. You'll have full admin access and make the changes yourself, rather than passing work to another team or monitoring read-only.

What You'll Be Doing

• Delivering the Cisco to Arista edge switching migration and the firewall replacement that follows
• Administering LAN, WAN and site-to-site connectivity across the UK and European sites
• Configuring and supporting switches, routers, firewalls, SD-WAN and wireless hands-on
• Maintaining security controls in line with ISO 27001, including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs and access policies
• Troubleshooting faults live and resolving issues before they reach users
• Owning firmware, patching, documentation and disaster recovery connectivity, and improving the existing network

What You'll Bring

• Solid, recent, hands-on Cisco routing and switching experience in a business-critical, in-house environment
• Hands-on firewall experience, ideally Palo Alto, alongside VPNs and VLANs
• Working knowledge of wireless and network security best practice, ideally in an ISO 27001 environment
• Strong live troubleshooting skills and the judgement to prioritise independently
• Commercial Arista exposure, a significant advantage though you don't need to be a specialist

Desirable: SD-WAN, multi-site or international experience, Aruba, VMware vSphere, Zscaler, cloud networking, Arista or Cisco certification

Please note: this is a hands-on engineering role where experience counts for more than certifications. You'll need to live within a sensible commute of Sunbury-on-Thames, and the role includes an infrequent on-call rota and occasional travel to European sites.
