Senior Mechanical Engineer 

Salary: £70,000–£85,000 + share options and benefits
Contract: Full-time, permanent, on site (UK)

The role
Echelon Engineers is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. You’ll be the mechanical Technical Authority, reviewing and signing off calculations and designs for high-pressure vessels and systems. It’s hands-on: CAD, FEA/CFD, and time on the fabrication floor taking equipment through build, testing and commissioning. You’ll also mentor a Mechanical Design Engineer.

You’ll need

• 10+ years’ mechanical engineering experience, including high-pressure vessels and systems
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Experience as a technical lead or Technical Authority
• Strong knowledge of PED, ASME VIII and UK pressure-systems regulations
• SolidWorks, plus FEA/CFD (ANSYS or similar)
• Experience working with fabricators and coded welders, including NDT and pressure testing
• A systems engineering approach and sound safety judgement

Nice to have: CEng (IMechE), piping/pipe stress, high-temperature or supercritical applications, pilot plant or first-of-a-kind experience.
