Location: UK (Hybrid/Remote)
Salary: £50,000-£60,000
Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

An established engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced senior structural engineer to deliver innovative structural solutions across commercial and industrial projects.

The senior structural engineer will lead foundation, reinforced concrete and structural steelwork design, supporting projects from concept through detailed design and construction. The chosen candidate can work on a remote or hybrid basis. The office is based in Reading and occasional site visits will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver structural calculations and designs for foundations, concrete elements, steelwork and equipment-supporting structures.
• Assess permanent, imposed, wind, equipment and dynamic loads.
• Interpret geotechnical information and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Review drawings, specifications, technical reports and contractor submissions.
• Provide construction support, site inspections and technical guidance.
• Ensure compliance with UK standards, Eurocodes, HSE requirements and project specifications.
• Support client liaison, tender submissions, technical reviews and junior engineer development.

Experience and Skills

The ideal senior structural engineer will have:

• A degree or HND in Structural, Civil or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong commercial or industrial structural design experience.
• Expertise in foundation design, reinforced concrete and structural steelwork.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes, geotechnical data and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Robot, Tekla Structural Designer or equivalent software.
• Excellent technical judgement, communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience with data centres, warehouses, utilities, energy facilities, industrial plants and heavy equipment foundations is advantageous. Professional registration (CEng, MICE, MIStructE or equivalent) is desirable.
