This is a key leadership role, responsible for keeping workshop and field service activity running efficiently, safely and to a high standard for customers.
The Role
- Manage day-to-day service operations across both depots, splitting your time between the two sites.
- Lead, support and develop a team of fitters and service engineers, both workshop and mobile.
- Plan and allocate workload to make the best use of labour, and keep jobs moving on time.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers on service issues, breakdowns and expectations.
- Monitor performance, productivity, costs and service KPIs, and report on progress.
- Work closely with the parts and aftermarket teams to keep downtime to a minimum.
- Ensure all work meets health and safety requirements, compliance standards and quality expectations.
- Support recruitment, training and development within the service team.
The Candidate
We’re looking for a hands-on Service Manager with a strong technical background and proven experience managing engineers in a plant, machinery or heavy equipment environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience managing a service team, workshop or multi-site operation.
- A solid technical understanding of heavy plant or machinery, with the credibility to support your engineers.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to deal with customers at all levels.
- A strong focus on health and safety and on delivering a quality service.
- A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel between depots.
Relevant qualifications:
- Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in plant, mechanical or heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Management or leadership qualification would be beneficial.
- IOSH or NEBOSH would also be advantageous.
Previous experience in a service manager, workshop manager or aftermarket role within plant, construction equipment or a similar industry would be particularly useful.
The Opportunity
- Take a key leadership role across two busy depots.
- Lead and develop an established service team.
- Work closely with senior management in a supportive, hands-on business.
- Up to £55,000 basic salary, plus company benefits.
If you’re an experienced Service Manager looking for your next opportunity, we’d be keen to hear from you.
