Diesel Generator Service Technician
Location: Colchester, Essex
Travel: UK, Europe & Offshore
About the Role
Our client is looking for a Service Technician with an electrical or mechanical engineering background to join their growing power generation team.
Based in Colchester, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault finding and repair of diesel generators and associated power generation equipment.
This is a varied, hands-on engineering role involving travel throughout the UK and Europe, with offshore assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and inspect diesel generators ranging from 30kVA to 220kVA.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Assist with generator installations, commissioning and operational support.
- Attend customer sites throughout the UK and Europe, sometimes at short notice.
- Support offshore maintenance and engineering projects when required.
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality and customer service standards.
Skills & Experience
- Strong electrical or mechanical engineering background - essential.
- Experience maintaining, servicing or repairing diesel generators - highly desirable.
- Good mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities.
- Flexibility and Willingness to travel overseas and work away from home with short notice.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Candidates with transferable experience in electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance or servicing industrial equipment are encouraged to apply.
