Job description

A creative higher education institution is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Fashion Technical Tutor to join its fashion team. This varied role combines practical garment construction tuition with the day-to-day running of a specialist fashion workshop.

About the role

You’ll share your knowledge of garment construction and fashion technologies with students, helping them develop strong technical skills and bring their design ideas to life. You’ll demonstrate techniques such as denim construction and tailoring, while supporting students to use workshop equipment, including digital textile printing and pattern cutting technology.
Alongside teaching, you’ll help maintain an organised, safe and inspiring workshop. You’ll also contribute to student and course success by producing garments and prototypes for exhibitions, competitions and promotional projects, and by working with industry partners.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver hands-on technical tuition in garment construction and related processes.
  • Demonstrate advanced techniques, including denim construction and tailoring.
  • Help students use fashion technologies and workshop equipment confidently and safely.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and support the effective running of the workshop.
  • Create garments and prototypes for exhibitions, competitions and promotional activity.
  • Contribute to collaborative projects with industry partners.
  • Maintain the organisation, presentation and safety of the workshop.
  • Adapt to new equipment, processes and curriculum developments.
About you
  • You’ll have extensive garment construction experience and a strong interest in using technology in fashion education.
  • You’ll be confident demonstrating practical techniques, supporting students with different needs and solving technical problems.
  • You’ll also be highly organised, professional and attentive to detail, with a strong commitment to workshop safety and high standards.
  • A flexible, curious approach and enthusiasm for developing new skills will help you thrive as the facilities and curriculum evolve.
If you enjoy combining practical teaching, creative problem-solving and workshop management, we’d welcome your application.
