Electrical Design Engineer

Permanent | Office-based

I’m working with a well-established, close-knit building services design consultancy in East Surrey. They’re looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team.

This role is for a hands-on designer. You’ll be involved in real, varied design work from concept to completion, not managing huge overseas megaprojects. Their projects cover offices (speculative and fit-out), hotels, education, residential, retail, restaurants and light industrial.

What you’ll be doing

• Electrical services design across RIBA stages: lighting, small power, containment, LV distribution, fire alarm and security systems
• Cable calculations in ElectricalOM and lighting calculations in Dialux
• Producing LV schematics, DB schedules and layouts
• Working directly with architects, clients and contractors
• Working closely with the directors, with real visibility and room to grow

What they’re looking for

• At least 2 years of UK building services electrical design experience (graduate +2 and above, all levels considered)
• A solid grounding in general building services design
• Working knowledge of ElectricalOM and Dialux, plus AutoCAD
• Good understanding of BS 7671 and relevant UK standards
• A relevant degree or HNC/HND in electrical or building services engineering
• Able to commute to East Surrey. The team is office-based, with 1 day from home.
